Only 4 stars?
GBB75, 06.10.2020
I have desired a PRS my whole life, but I always found them ridicolously overpriced. I pulled the trigger on the PRS SE Custom 24 35th anniversary after much reading about it.
I will state the reason for a 4.star rating upfront, and then I will discuss the PROs (wh.ich are remarkarble).

CONS:
I plug-in the guitar and hear a considerable hum on the neck pick-up. Definitly not what I was expecting. After tampering a bit with the guitar I realized the imput jack has been badly screwed. Really PRS? What about your legendary build/quality control? I had to unscrew the imput jack and fix it. First 30 minutes of experience completely wasted.
After fixing the input jack hole, however, the hum goes away...and the magic begins.

PROS:
(1) Look: this guitar is stunning! PRS' well known shape (a functional hybrid between a Les Paul and a Strat) with a marvelous blue finish.
(2) Neck: neck is maple (secret recipe of the Bolt-on series which IMO is much better than the Core), i.e., snappy, slinky and alive. First impression is unsettling: in your hand it is wider than you would expect. But then you play: 15 minutes, then 30, then an hour. You play chords, arpeggios, scales, solo and soon you realize it is the most confortable neck you have ever played. Less meaty than a LP's, but more substanstial than a Strat's, it is a marvel of function.
(3) Sound: OMG!!! The TCI pickups are hyped and I was a bit skeptical. I have to admit that even in the "S" version (i.e., made in the Far East) they are nothing short of phenomenal!
Single coil sounds are superb. I generally stay away from coil-tapping / coil-splitting as they sound more as a thin and fizzy humbucker than a true single-coil. These pickups are different: single coil voicing is more than convincing. There is tre strat-like "glassy" quality of the sound, the shimmering highs, and then some. And the humbuckers on the other side are incredible. Less potent than, say Gibson's pickups, they are however more precise and the highs especially are incredibly clear, loud, and open sounding. Experts say they mimick P-90s. I am not an expert in P-90s and so I cannot confirm. I do confirm however that they sound just incredible.

Overall, this is a guitar that has everthing PRS is loved (or hated) for: a cross-over between a gibson and a fender, it plays phenomenally and covers a wide sonic territory. The real deal are the pickups: TCI hype is real. They sound superb in every mode: splitted, humbucked or any combination of the two.

If it was not for the jack hole issue which really ruined my first experience, 5 stars would have been even too few. Probably 7 or 8 stars would have been more appropriate.
It is a limited run, so you better hurry.

FULLY recommended, but the PRS' quality is a myth...
djfender, 11.10.2020
I own Les Paul (Epiphone Slash AFD) and Strat (Yamaha PAC812WX). I was looking for something 'between' LP and Strat styles to fill the gap.
Being Santana's fan for years I always dreamed about PRS. Since the SE series is offered at affordable price and the 35th Anniv limited edition is so unique I decided to buy it.

PROs:
1. FBB finish is gorgeous (in combination with natural mahogany back and sides).
2. SOUND (both acoustically and connected to an amp)!!!
It's neither LP nor Start like sound, but unique. Much brighter (in HB mode) than my Epi LP, but not so funky as the Start (especially in the 4th or 2nd position) when switched to single coils mode.
3. Free access to 24th fret (double cuts).
4. 2x mini switches for coils split.
5. Neck profile is VERY comfortable to play.
6. Tremolo (not available in my LP).
7. Price.
8. Versatility in tones thanks to 2 mini switches.

CONs:
1. QUALITY. After just a week of playing there was no sound on the bridge pick-up. Thanks to Thomann's advises I was able to fix the 3-w switch by myself. However, that's NOT what I was expected from a brand new guitar and PRS. I was really disappointed. There are many 'quality' stickers around the guitar, but stickers do not do the job. I found in the Internet many similar complains about this switch used in the SE series. Maybe PRS also means 'Poor Reliability Standard'? Maybe the SE series shall not be branded as PRS...
2. PRS machine heads, which do not keep the guitar in tune (even tremolo is not used). My Epi and Yamaha (with blocked keys) stay in tune for months!
3. Bird fretboard inlays looks great, but they are hardly visible from the player's perspective.
4. Strings' action was set too low for E and A (despite a quality mark for the action setting) causing an annoying buzz, but it was easy to fix.
5. Common Tone and Volume control for both pick-ups. I prefer the LP way with 2 pairs of knobs for each pick-up

Fantastic guitar
Mauricer1, 02.09.2020
I tried this guitar for a few days and have to say that it's really great. The humbuckers are very clear and open sounding. I'm used to playing single coil guitars and I'm usually not that fond of humbuckers. To my ear, humbuckers usually sound a bit muddy and a bit too "fat", which results in a lack of clarity.

These TCI "S" Humbuckers are designed to mimic the sound of a P90, which are my favorite type of pickups, but in a noiseless humbucker form. Surprisingly, these humbuckers split very well. Usually, coil splitting sounds a bit thin and results in a huge volume drop. But on this guitar, the split coil sounds very convincing and can really sing like a strat or tele would.

One con I saw: both the neck and body are three pieces. On the neck, you can see that the maple consists of three laminated pieces with glue line along the length on the neck. While this is a little cheaper to make, it actually gives stability to the neck and prevents it from twisting.

All in all, I would recommend this guitar to everyone.
